Pour bleach down wellhead using funnel

Start garden hose and flush with water (don't need to put down far), they say until bleach smell comes out, North Kent Well and Pump says 10 min

(will hear the pump start and stop)

Shut off hose and put the cap on the well, run faucets one at a time until you smell bleach. (water will turn white), may take up to 10 minutes

Bleach can be in pipes from 8-36 hours (depending on how badly the pipes need to be cleaned)

When time is up, start one hose pointed away from the drainfield and run until the bleach smell is gone, may take up to 30 min.

Chlorine testing strips helps when the nose becomes overwhelmed with bleach smell.  (find with hot tub stuff)

Then turn on one faucet at a time and wait for the bleach to clear.  (use chlorine testing strips, ie hot tub or pool strips)

Generate a few batches of ice after doing this before using and do NOT add water to the fish tank for a few days.  Replace the refrigerator water filter a few days later.

After running water through the house, reconnect the water softener.  Water softeners DO NOT like loads of chlorine
